SDS MODEL 72 SPRAY DRYER

The SDS Model 72 is used for evaporation rates of 40 to 340 lb/hr of water.  It has a standard drying chamber of 6 feet in diameter, with a minimum straight side of 6 feet.

The Model 72 can produce as high as 150 micron average particle size in the mixed-flow configuration, with little or no wall buildup.  Larger average particle sizes can be produced by extending the chamber height.

The evaporation rate and maximum particle size obtained depends upon the feed being processed, the air temperatures used for drying, and the nozzle configuration used.

A direct fired natural gas air heater provides the energy required for evaporation, with inlet air temperatures up to 1200⁰F.

Atomization is provided by either pressure nozzle or two-fluid nozzle.  Nozzle configuration can be co-current (spray down) or mixed-flow (spray up).

Powder collection can be by chamber bottom separation, cyclone, and/or bag filter.
