SDS MODEL 72 SPRAY DRYER
The SDS Model 72
is used for evaporation rates of 45 to 340 lb/hr of water.
It has a standard drying chamber of 6 feet in diameter, with a minimum
straight side of 6 feet.
The Model 72 can
produce as high as 175 micron average particle size in the
mixed-flow configuration, with little or no wall buildup.
Larger average particle sizes can be produced by extending the
chamber height.
The
actual evaporation rate and maximum
average particle size achievable depends upon the feed being processed,
the air temperatures used for drying, and the nozzle configuration used.
A direct fired
natural gas air heater provides the energy required for
evaporation, with a maximum inlet air temperature of 1,2000F.
Atomization is
provided by either a pressure nozzle, or a two-fluid nozzle.
Nozzle configuration can be co-current (spray down) or
mixed-flow (spray up).
Powder collection choices include chamber separation, cyclone, and bag filter.
The ducting and cyclone use tri-clamp connections for ease of
disassembly.
The standard NEMA 12 control panel includes inlet and outlet
air temperature indication, PID temperature control, feed pump
speed control, system fan speed control, system pressure indication, temperature and
pressure safety switches, the flame safety relay, a local
disconnect, as well as all the required start/stop buttons,
on/off switches, and indication lights.
Because the Model 72 system is typically mounted on structural
steel supports with stairs and access platforms, the overall height
and footprint can vary greatly depending upon the layout
preferred by the customer, the dryer's atomization
configuration, and if chamber solids separation is used.
A typical layout would be between 20-26' in overall height and
have a footprint of approximately 22' x 19'.
All components of the Model 72 spray dryers are engineered and
manufactured right here in the United States.
